Best practice guidelines on cargo securing and abnormal transport

As a practical step towards more road safety and transport efficiency throughout the European Union, the Directorate-General for Energy and Transport has asked experts from Member States and Industry to develop guidelines reflecting best practice on cargo securing and abnormal transports. The work of these experts was finished in 2006 and is now presented here.

The guidelines are understood as help from experts for the application of safe and tried practices in the areas on securing cargo on trucks and on transporting loads, which do not fit the norms generally allowed in road transport. For combined transport, operators are reminded to also follow the cargo securing requirements of participating railway companies.
