The use of seat belts and child restraint systems is MANDATORY (Directive 91/671/EEC as amended). The following exemptions are applied:

  • The use of safety devices in TAXI is not mandatory for children having 3 years and more
  • The use of safety devices is not mandatory when driving on ice roads (roads created on frozen sea, river or lake)
  • The use of safety devices is not mandatory, if the driver or passenger performs official duties which require stopping the vehicle at every 100 metres or less

Intermittently flashing green light permits going ahead but at the same time informs that amber light is about to illuminate. The amber light prohibits going ahead; going ahead from the place designated for halting (normally a line displayed on the road surface) is permitted only if halting in that place is impossible, without endangering other road users. If the amber light illuminates at the moment when the driver is on the intersection or pedestrian crossing, he/she must continue to drive.

Pursuant to the Public Transport Act, a lane reserved for public transport vehicles is a part of a carriageway, signposted as such and marked with the corresponding road surface marking, which is designated for the traffic of public transport vehicles which provide regular services, for taxis and for buses carrying passengers. Cycle traffic is allowed on a lane reserved for public transport if a corresponding traffic control device allows it.

Drivers whose vehicles have no right to drive on the lane reserved for public transport vehicles may use such lanes in the following exceptional cases:

drivers may move on to a lane reserved for public transport vehicles adjacent to the carriageway appropriate to the direction of traffic and not separated from the rest of the carriageway by a continuous line, before a turn or stopping in order to enable passengers to enter or alight, provided that it does not impede public transport vehicles providing regular services. It is allowed to drive on to such a lane reserved for public transport vehicles when completing a turn, after which the vehicle shall abandon it immediately;a lane reserved for public transport vehicles on a carriageway provided with such lane may be traversed only across in places where it is not prohibited by traffic control devices.

Safety equipment for cyclist Helmet is mandatory for cyclists under 16 years. A bicycle must be fitted with signal bell, working brake, white reflector in front, red reflector at the back and yellow or white reflector on both sides of at least one wheel of the bicycle.
