De conferentie wordt georganiseerd door de Europese Commissie, het Cypriotisch voorzitterschap van de Europese Unie (ministerie van communicatie en openbare werken) en de Cypriotische jongerenorganisatie voor verkeersveiligheid, REACTION.

Zij wordt bijgewoond door vertegenwoordigers van jongerengroepen en verkeersveiligheidsfunctionarissen uit alle EU-landen en aangrenzende regio's. Ook zijn organisaties en vooraanstaande personen met een actieve rol op het gebied van verkeersveiligheid voor jongeren uitgenodigd.

De doelstellingen van de conferentie zijn:

jongeren beter bewust maken van de verkeersveiligheidsproblematiek
deelnemers de mogelijkheid geven om van gedachten te wisselen en praktische maatregelen voor te stellen - op nationaal en regionaal niveau - om het verkeersgedrag van jongeren veiliger te maken
het verkeersveiligheidsbeleid van de EU ten aanzien van jongeren onder de aandacht brengen
optimale praktijken uitwisselen met de buurlanden van de EU
