Financial support
The Commission has provided financial support to a number of pilot projects in this area. However, the budget dedicated to this initiative has been exhausted. Projects presented by eligible countries can still be supported in the framework of the financial structural instruments, in particular the cohesion fund, in order to improve their infrastructure.

The European Investment Bank (EIB)
The European Investment Bank (EIB) foresees since 2008 the possibility to support the construction of parking areas.
The Commission is currently examining the feasibility of providing further support in the context of the Trans-European Transport Network Programme.
