Introduction

The Commission has requested a European consortium, lead by NEA (NL), to make an overview of the administrative and institutional framework put into place to monitor the EU-rail acquis in the European Union, the EEA and Switzerland. The final report (June 2005) contains information on e.g. the organisation of rail transport, the separation of essential functions as well as information on the main organisations involved in the Member States.

The country monographs for Iceland and Liechtenstein (situation: April 2005) can be found under this section, whereas the monographs for the other Member States can be found under the 'Administration' subsection of each Member State.

Disclaimer: These studies have been carried out at the request of the European Commission.
