EU to support the upgrade of Swedish maritime infrastructure

The European Union will co-finance with over €2.5 million from the TEN-T Programme a project to improve the maritime infrastructure in Lake Mälaren in Sweden to increase the role of maritime transport in the area and foster intermodality and relieve congestion on road and rail.

New Air Traffic Control centre inagurated in Budapest

The new Hungarian air navigation centre was inaugurated in Budapest on 27 February 2013, bringing the complex investment programme of the Hungarian air navigation service provider to a conclusion. The high tech centre will further advance the air transport infrastructure of both Hungary and Central Europe as a whole, contributing to the continued competitiveness of the Hungarian air navigation services.

EU support to help solve Lyon’s rail travel bottleneck

The European Union will provide co-financing of almost €3 million from the TEN-T Programme for a project to further construction of a new railway line around Lyon in France. The project, which is part of the "High speed railway axis of southwest Europe" (TEN-T Priority Project 3), will help to solve the current rail bottleneck problems around Lyon.

EU support for development of key Greek rail link

The European Union will support with a €1 million grant from the TEN-T Programme the last remaining studies necessary to complete the important Athens to Thessaloniki rail link in Greece. The studies will focus on two stretches of 2.3 km and 3 km respectively on the rail section linking Athens main railway station to the town of Aharnes.

Youth Photo Competition: Prizes for best photos about road safety

As part of the "Long Short Walk Campaign", Youth for Road Safety (YOURS) is organising a photo competition. Pictures of people holding a signboard "I'm walking for..." and pictures of nice or dangerous walks are eligible. The organisers are looking for creativity, originality and powerful messages. The deadline is 1 May 2013.
