Road Safety: Large-scale police operation targets road users breaking the law

Police officers from 28 countries across Europe took part in a large-scale motorway control operation in France and Belgium. The five-hour operation was jointly prepared by the Belgian National Traffic Police, the French National Gendarmerie, French National Police and Dutch National Traffic Police. During this time, hundreds of cars, buses and trucks travelling across the border were stopped and checked. Police were joined by representatives of partner agencies including vehicle inspectorates, customs and revenue.

Solutions for intermodality in Spain supported by the EU via grant

The European Union will co-finance with over €500,000 from the TEN-T Programme a study to assess the possibilities of using a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) scheme to finance the development of the Vilamalla/El Far d'Emporda intermodal logistics terminal in Spain.

EU co-financing helps increase freight rail capacity in the Netherlands

The European Union will support with over €3.5 million from the TEN-T Programme a project to help further the development of a key rail freight corridor at Meteren-Boxtel in The Netherlands. The project is part of TEN-T Rail Freight Corridor I which aims to remove bottlenecks and upgrade the existing rail infrastructure to help increase rail freight capacity.

EU co-financing to improve rail travel in Sweden

The European Union will co-finance with over €3.5 million from the TEN-T Programme, two rail infrastructure projects to further develop the Bothnian Corridor in eastern Sweden. The projects will help to increase capacity on two important sections of this key rail corridor.

Youth Photo Competition: Prizes for best photos about road safety

As part of the "Long Short Walk Campaign", Youth for Road Safety (YOURS) is organising a photo competition. Pictures of people holding a signboard "I'm walking for..." and pictures of nice or dangerous walks are eligible. The organisers are looking for creativity, originality and powerful messages. The deadline is 1 May 2013.
