Piracy, the curse of maritime transport

Brussels, 28-29 March 2012

This seminar addresses on the effects of piracy on the shipping industry and seafarers. The seminar attempted wide-ranging issues such as the economic and human cost of piracy, the promotion of development in Somalia, the media coverage of the phenomenon, EU's military involvement in the Gulf of Aden, legal aspects related to the use of private security companies onboard merchant vessels and counter-piracy oriented research issues.
