A horizontal aviation agreement which restores legal certainty for the bilateral air services agreements between the Republic of Panama and EU Member States was signed on 1 October 2007. The agreement entered into force on 3 March 2009.
The agreement removes nationality restrictions in the bilateral air services agreements between EU Member States and Panama and therefore allows any EU airline to operate flights between Panama and any EU Member State where it is established and where a bilateral agreement with Panama exists. It constitutes an extension of the EU single aviation market to partner countries around the world.
The agreement will encourage traffic between the EU and Panama, and is an important step towards further strengthening the EU-Panama aviation relations.
