An aviation agreement which restores legal certainty regarding bilateral air services agreements was signed by the European Union and Mongolia on 3 April 2009.
The agreement brings several provisions in bilateral air services agreements between EU Member States and Mongolia in line with EU law. Most importantly, it will remove nationality restrictions in the bilateral air services agreements between EU Member States and Mongolia and thereby allows any EU airline to operate flights between Mongolia and any EU Member State where it is established and where a bilateral agreement with Mongolia exists and traffic rights are available.
The agreement is an important step towards further strengthening the EU-Mongolia aviation relations and will encourage traffic between the EU and Mongolia.
