Application Areas
Intelligent transport systems can be used in many areas. This section describes the main areas and reference is made to core services as well as sources for further information.
The potential of ITS can only be realised if its deployment in Europe is transformed from the fragmented implementation that is observed today into an EU-wide one. In this respect, the removal of existing barriers to ITS deployment will be important in all application areas. The ITS Action Plan will therefore address all the areas described in this section.
