Impact of economic crisis on inland waterway transport sector
Hearing of the inland waterway transport sector
Brussels, 16-17 November 2009
In order to discuss the impacts of the economic crisis on the inland waterway transport sector, the Commission has invited representatives of the European professional organisations, the Member States concerned, the forwarder industry and the banking sector. The event took place on 16 and 17 November 2009 in Brussels.
The participants reviewed the impact of the crisis, its effects on transport demand and fleet capacity, the financing of businesses and future prospects. The second day was devoted to the discussion of appropriate measures with a view to mitigate the impacts of the crisis."
