Event "Urban transport: problems, solutions and responsibilities"

Commission launches the preparations of a Green Paper on urban transport.

The European Commission will launch the preparations of a new Green Paper on urban transport with a major stakeholder conference in Brussels on 31 January 2007.

The event "Urban transport: problems, solutions and responsibilities" is organised in the framework of the EU Sustainable Energy Week.

This first stakeholder conference will bring together representatives from all the sectors that have an interest in the Green Paper on urban transport.

High-level representatives from the European institutions and from European cities will present their expectations. Representatives from the European Commission include Vice-President Barrot and Commissioner Hübner. During this conference particular attention will be paid to the question of subsidiarity and European added value.

Participation is free but a limited number of places is available. Places can be booked until 22 January 2007 using the on-line registration system on the EU Sustainable Energy Week website.
