Social dialogue

The Community Charter of the fundamental social rights of workers states that employers and workers' organizations, should have the right to negotiate and conclude collective agreements under the conditions laid down by national legislation and practice. At the European level the dialogue between the two sides may, if the parties deem it desirable, result in contractual relations in particular at inter-occupational and sectoral level. The Commission has established sectoral dialogue committees by a decision of 20 May 1998 (98/500/EEC).

On 20 December 2010, the European Commission has decided to create a specific expert group on the social dimension of the Single European Sky. This group will be consulted on all Commission proposals in the field of the Single European Sky having a significant social impact (Decision of 20 December 2010 C/2010/9016 pdf - 66 KB [66 KB] All available translations.).
