On 27 September 2011 the European Commission together with the Polish Presidency hosted a high level conference on civil aviation security. The conference took place about ten years after the terrorist attacks of 11 September in 2001 in the United States.

The event enabled both government representatives and stakeholders to thoroughly discuss developments in the field of aviation security in the past decade. In particular:
Conference conclusions and recommendations
The panel discussions and exchange of views involved more than 100 high level specialists and key players in aviation security. The conference participants discussed, how to develop aviation security policy further, to address the evolving threat in the most efficient way. The Commission will take due account of all the conclusions and recommendations
