Objectifs et missions
| Les objectifs et les missions de l'organisme : |
Fondazione L’Albero della Vita is a non-profit organization, it is impartial and apolitical. Its general aims are of civil nature; having as its basis a global vision of man, its integration in relation to social problems, health and illness, the Foundation means to operate in the protection and improvement of the quality of life, in safeguarding individual rights as well as in the protection and enhancement of the environment. Each action of the Foundation aims to build a society ever more respectful of the dignity of every person, in recognition of the rights of future generations to live their present fully and to develop their potential to address the reality in a responsible and positive way. The ambitious aim is to identify the causes of the illness and the reasons for the welfare of the children’s world, to understand their values and aspirations and take dynamic and flexible actions that are appropriate to a changing social welfare, that may make everyone responsible through the active involvement of children, adolescents and adults in building a civil society.
Fondazione L’Albero della Vita is engaged in implementing effective actions to promote children and protect their right to grow up in a safe and suitable environment, in particular it works to promote the social inclusion of children in conditions of hardship and exclusion and their families, protecting the right of every child to grow in the best environmental, family-, emotional and psychological conditions. L’Albero della Vita does it in Italy (at national level) through activities to welcome the child and mother-baby units, giving the disadvantaged, at high risk of social exclusion, concrete opportunities for a new life. It also promotes social inclusion of foreign children, in five regions through curriculum integration of linguistic and cultural awareness on children’s rights, development and sensitivity to the living conditions of the countries of the South, active citizenship and social solidarity. It does it in Europe (Romania) promoting actions to support education, educational materials to labor migration orphans being left behind and their migrated families, as well as lobbying, research and awareness actions on issues of poverty, social inclusion and promotion of a child culture. It does it in the World (India, Peru, Indonesia, Kenya, Congo) supporting children in their basic needs but even more creating opportunities for promoting their education and future profession and improving their social, political and economic order to offer better opportunities for development and personal growth.

Mainstreaming children’s rights and combating the poverty of European children and families: written policy position with Eurochild network to EU institutions, Networking, awareness-raising actions with EU exponents.
Children in alternative care: a lot of work is underway with Eurochild network to EU institutions and to National governments about engaging towards a quality of the care given to these children, which is at very different stages in the European context (connected to the de-institutionalization process underway).
Labor migration orphans left home (in Romania) from parents migrated (to Italy and Spain): in parallel to projectual activities in Romania and in parents' destination countries with other EU partners, awareness-raising activities with officials from local and international organizations and European and National institutions, and with the Italian public opinion. National and EU Meetings and seminars to raise awareness and involve communities and authorities. Practical tools to help parents and children to live their distance more aware and contain the consequences of living apart.
Transnational migration of families: families with their children, children that go back to their countries. A project of research, study of good pracice, sharing and awareness raising financed by EU Commission.
Non accompanied Afghan children passing through Italy (Rome area): in parallel to projectual activities of support and orientation to such minors passing through Rome, awareness-raising communication actions to denounce the specific situation of Afghan minors passing through Italy and all Europe to find a place to live in peace.
Contacts with officials of EU institutions for projectual sharing and updating on relevant children issues where focus is needed.

L’Albero della Vita cooperates with networks of organizations to share common values and promote oriented actions:
PIDIDA: Italian informal coordination that brings together all organizations involved in promoting and protecting rights of children and adolescents in Italy and worldwide. Its aims are of advocacy actions to national institutions about children’s rights issues, thereby favoring a correct adoption of norms and policies at national and regional level towards a greater attention to the child world.
GRUPPO CRC: The Italian NGO Group for the CRC is a network currently composed by almost 86 NGOs and associations that have been working for a long time for the promotion and protection of children’s rights in Italy. It was established in December 2000 with the main aim of drafting a regular Report on the implementation of the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) in Italy, supplementary to the one presented by the Italian Government, to be submitted to the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child (UN CRC Committee) at the High Commissioner for Human Rights.
COLOMBA(Cooperazione Lombardia): Lombardy network linking 90 institutions (NGOs and associations) dealing with international cooperation. Main areas of action: lobbying the Lombardy Region and the Municipality of Milan on the relevance of the issues of people’s development of the southern world and of the interventions carried out by organizations. Cooperation funding is a key lobby issue. Thematic groups of ONGs study and share on common issues and actions. A good and accredited network in Lombardy region, member of the Association ONGs of Italy.
CISMAI: national network (belonging to ISPCAN international network) for study and sharing on issues related to psychological abuse and maltreatment of children. Activities: conferences, publications , focus groups, 5 scientific committees, newsletters. This includes 130 members: Municipalities, ASL, ONP and professionals.
EUROCHILD: European network focused on combating poverty and social exclusion of children in Europe. Main activities: data collection and advocacy work on Parliament and the European Commission through policy positions, awareness-raising campaigns, conferences and participation in variuous platforms on European issues. Data collection and advocacy work on national institutions through national member organizations on EU and International guiding principles. yearly meetings, seminars and workshops; 4 thematic working groups; newsletter. Members: 120 from 35 countries all over Europe.
Fundamental Rights Platform (FRP) - a network for cooperation and information exchange, set to act as the main channel for the Fundamental Rights Agency (FRA)to engage civil society and to ensure a close cooperation between the Agency and relevant stakeholders.
CRIN: global information network on children's rights. Its membership includes over 2000 members from 150 countries (85% NGOs, 75% based organizations in developing countries).
