Improvement of long-term competitiveness of the forest sector and the enlargement of use of forest products and services that emanate from sustainably managed forests as well as the production of quality secondary forest products of high added value.
Enrichment of biodiversity, carbon sequestration, health, vitality and stability of forest ecosystems.
Protection of forest ecosystems from biotic and abiotic factors.
Quality of life through protection and improvement of the social, economic and cultural parameters of forests. Inter-sectoral collaboration with research, technological and production bodies for facing the challenges that result from the multifunctional role of forest ecosystems.
Study of the effects of climate change and of land-use changes on the functions of forest ecosystems.
