    Δραστηριότητες

Access Info Europe acts to promote and protect the right of access to information (freedom of information).

This includes the right of access to EU documents as established by Article 15 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union.

The relevant EU legal framework includes:
* Regulation 1049/2001 on Access to EU documents
* Directive 95/46/EC on personal data protection
* Directive 2003/98/EC on the re-use of public sector information

As a human rights organisation we also support other actions in promotion of human rights, including the right to freedom of expression, the right to privacy, and other rights affected by EU rules, policies and practices. Access Info also supports initiatives to increase public participation in decision-making at the EU level.

SPECIFIC ADVOCACY AND LOBBYING ACTIVITIES

* Access Info runs the www.AsktheEU.org website, an online platform where citizens can file access to documents requests to any EU institutions. All responses and requests are published online and in real-time. Access Info also regularly files information requests of our own.

* Access Info uses the data generated through AsktheEU.org to analyse compliance with the right of access to EU documents by various EU institutions.
Recent reports can be found at http://www.access-info.org/index.php/en/european-union

* Transparency of the Council of the European Union – publication of a report in May 2014 based on the data gathered via www.AsktheEU.org including specific recommendations on how the Council of the EU can improve its handling of public access to documents requests: http://www.access-info.org/index.php/en/european-union/558-council-report-2013

* Transparency of the European Commission – campaigning for proactive transparency within the Commission expert groups: http://www.access-info.org/index.php/en/european-union/605-expert-groups-submission and demanding EU Commissioners’ expenses become transparent: http://blog.asktheeu.org/2014/08/join-the-campaign-to-make-eu-commissioner-expenses-transparent/

* Transparency of Media Ownership: Access Info Europe and the Open Society Media Program continue to campaign for improvements in Europe on the "Transparency of media ownership". This invoves advocacy directed at the EU institutions and also to the Council of Europe and other inter-governmental bodies.

* Access Info is part of the Steering Committee of ALTER EU since October 2011 and as such is engaged in campaigns to reform the EU Transparency Register, to re-balance expert groups in the European Commission, and to strengthen ethics regulation in the EU. More details can be found here (http://www.access-info.org/index.php/en/lobbying-transparency?start=14) and on the ALTER EU Transparency register page: http://ec.europa.eu/transparencyregister/public/consultation/displaylobbyist.do?id=2694372574-63

* ‘Politics for People’ campaign: As part of the ALTER EU coalition, the campaign was successful in securing commitments from the 2014 European Parliament Election candidates that they would defend citizens against the excessive influence of corporate lobbies and big businesses if elected: http://www.access-info.org/index.php/en/lobbying-transparency/571-100-mep-pledges
ALTER EU and Access Info will continue to work together with the MEPs that pledged to improve EU ethics and transparency over the next legislative term.

* Support for campaigns calling on the European Commission to reform EU copyright laws and regulations: http://www.access-info.org/index.php/en/european-union/628-reform-copyright-eu

* Support for campaigns to make the negotiations on the future Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) open and transparent: http://www.access-info.org/index.php/en/european-union/573-call-ttip-transparency . This includes filing a submission to the public consultation conducted by the European Ombudsman on the topic: http://www.access-info.org/index.php/en/euro
