    Objetivos y misión

The Council of European Dentists (CED) is the representative organisation for the dental profession in the EU, representing over 340,000 practising dentists through 32 national dental associations. Established in 1961 to advise the European Commission on matters relating to the dental profession, the CED promotes high standards of oral healthcare and effective patient safety centred professional practice throughout Europe.

The CED is a member of the Federation of European and International Associations established in Belgium (FAIB http://faib.org/), an associate member of the European Movement International (EMI http://europeanmovement.eu/) and holds a liaison status with CEN/TC 55 Committee (http://www.cen.eu/Pages/default.aspx).

Health Programme

We estimated our costs at 75% of our total costs. Other costs not relevant refer to facilitation of contacts and exchange of information between our members, for instance on national legislation, regulation and policy or on epidemiological trends.

The CED's core activities are financed exclusively from membership fees. In addition, the CED participates in the Joint Actions on Patient Safety and Quality of Care and on EU Health Workforce Planning and Forecasting for which the CED receives partial reimbursement from EU funds ("Grants"). In 2013-2014, the CED carried out as part of a consortium a mapping study on CPD for health professions in the EU for the European Commission and recieved payment in the framework of the EU Health Programme 2008-2013 (for pre-financing received in 2013 see "Procurement").
