    Mērķi un uzdevumi

The twin goals of the Quaker Council for European Affairs are: first, to engage Quakers and those in close sympathy with Quakers in Europe, in the political processes of the European institutions; and, second, to influence, where possible, the policies of the European institutions in line with the values and concerns of Quakers and those in close sympathy with Quakers in Europe, on matters relating to peace, human rights, economic justice, energy security, sustainability, democratic governance, and transparency.

We follow topics in human rights, peace, economic justice, democratic governance and sustainability. Specific current programme areas are hate crime, criminal justice, CSDP, drones and other arms, human rights and business, the role of the EU in Israel and Palestine, trade and funding with regard to conflict sensitivity and sustainability, natural resource use, and the circular economy.

We communicate via our blog, website, publications including a bimonthly newsletter, Facebook, and Twitter.


 

On behalf of the Quaker Council for European Affairs, the persons listed below have had, in the past twelve months (8/2014 through 7/2015), four or more contacts with members or officials of the EU institutions with the objective of influencing the policy formulation and decision-making processes of the European institutions; or they have spent 20 percent or more of their working time on behalf of the Quaker Council for European Affairs carrying out such activities:

1 Interim Quaker Representative
2 Project Officers (previously Programme Assistants)
All of these staff spend most of their time on advocacy, i.e. activities which fall under the scope of this register.
We also employ 1 part-time Office Manager and host occassional short-term volunteers.
