Objetivos y misión
| Objetivos y misión del organismo: |
The objectives of the OFI are:
a. to actively support and further the ethical standard of trade in the entire ornamental fish industry, and the responsible catching, breeding and treatment of ornamental fish and other aquatic organisms in each step of the supply chain;
b. to improve packaging, transport procedures to guarantee in this way the welfare of the fish and other aquatic organisms during transport;
c. to protect natural habitats by way of effective environmental and nature conservation programs;
d. to keep aquarium and pond in all its aspects in a responsible way;
e. to further the ethical and durable catching and harvesting of fish and other aquatic organisms;
f. to protect fishing and to improve the standard of living of the local communities, everything in the broadest sense of the word.
It shall try to reach this objective amongst others by way of a close co-operation with the authorities, political organisations, nature conservation organisations,fishermen, and all other interested parties. To explain to members and non-members its working methods, activities, to have this industry become aware of this, and everything that might be conducive to reach this goal.
