APREN is considered a valuable partner to help establishing faster procedures for the licensing of new renewable energy power plants, and improve legislation related with the sector. The Association gathers the interests of a vast majority of the portuguese independent producers of renewable electricity and acts as their speaker with the relevant national authorities.
APREN provides varied information about renewable energy and is very active within the European framework, conducting national studies, participating in European projects financed by IEE and conducting workshops and conferences dedicated to themes important to renewable energy producers, such as energy policy, energy security strategy, energy efficiency, grid interconnection and technology and innovation.
Annually APREN conducts an international conference dedicated to relevant issues for the renewable energy sector. This year was dedicated to the strategy for the development of renewable electricity. It was also published a study regarding renewable electricity macroeconomic impact in Portugal. Moreover, currently, APREN is a partner in two European projects: Keep on Track and EnergizAIR2.
We keep a close track of National and European policies. For that, nationally we are committed with work groups that gather the officially governmental institutions and sector companies to work in the new and revisions of legislation. At European level we are associated with relevant associations in the renewable energy sector, such as EWEA, EPIA and EREF.
