With total revenues in Europe of €11 billion, and 62,993 employees as of December 31, 2013, SUEZ ENVIRONNEMENT is a reference player in the environmental market (water and waste). The Group is active at each stage of the water and waste cycles, and operates both on behalf of public authorities and private sector players.

Through its water-related activities in Europe, SUEZ ENVIRONNEMENT supplied 30,1 million people with drinking water, and provided wastewater treatment services to 30,3 million people in 2013. In the same year, the Group provided waste collection services to nearly 40 million people in Europe, treated around 35 million tons of waste leading to the recovery of 10,1 million tons of secondary raw materials. The group also supplied waste & water services to over 1.2 million non-domestic customers.

SUEZ ENVIRONNEMENT is also active outside Europe, where it achieves 31% of its total revenues worldwide.

    Activiteiten

The main initiatives covered in 2013 by SUEZ ENVIRONNEMENT include:

- on market issues: the review of legislation on VAT for public bodies; directives on public procurement and concessions; the protection of business and research know-how.

- on environmental / climate / sustainable consumption & production issues: SCP/SIP action plan: ecolabel, eco-design, extended producer responsibility; roadmap for a resource-efficient Europe;

- on waste management: circular economy package; targets review; plastic waste; the certification for waste treatment facilities

- on water management issues: access to water for all; reuse; Blueprint to safeguard Europe's water; water-related directives

This estimate takes into account:
- the fees paid to the above mentioned organizations, except to those active at Global level and when these associations are themselves listed in the Transparency Register;
- direct expenses paid to consulting firms for specific lobbying purposes;
- travel expenses.
Human resources amounting to 3,5 FTE come in addition to this estimate, as well as expenditures related to standardization initiatives.
