| Goals / remit of the organisation: |
- Promote the role of energy exchanges as a way of increasing competition by creating price transparency and implementing the European single electricity, gas and environment markets.
- Support the liberalization of the different European electricity and gas systems.
- Deal with the issue of international trading, with special emphasis on providing a market solution to the congestion problem.
- Maintain dialogue with the European community authorities and with other European electricity, gas and environment related entities.
- Increase co-operation among European energy exchanges and promote free trade.
- Assess the need for recommendations regarding market information dissemination and market rules specially related to market power abuse.
- Deal and treat issues from other commodity markets that are related and relevant to the electricity market, as the carbon and natural gas market.
