The Federation of Irish Fishermen was established in 2007 and is the umbrella organisation for three Irish Fish Producer Organisations namely, (1)The Irish Fish Producers Organisation Ltd (IFPO), (2)The Irish South and West Fish Producers Organisation Ltd (IS&WFPO) and (3)The Killybegs Fishermen's Organisation Ltd (KFO).
The FIF currently represents up to 90% of the over 12 metre Irish fishing fleet and is run by a board of directors.
The FIF's key aim is to provide a unified voice for the Irish Fishing Industry and to provide an active input into all policy-making decisions both nationally and internationally.
Members of North Western Waters Advisory Council, Pelagic Advisory Council, Long Distance Advisory Council.
FIF represents members interests in negotiations regarding TAC and Quota, regulations etc
