| Goals / remit of the organisation: |
Lear is a research centre and an economics consulting firm that specializes in applying micro-economic and quantitative tools to helps its clients in developing and applying economic solutions that are simple and clear. At Lear we support firms, their legal advisers and public authorities in the assessment of the competitive implications of mergers, acquisitions, agreements and unilateral conducts and we provide expert advice and testimony during proceedings with national competition authorities for alleged breaches of the antitrust legislation. We analyse and assess, on behalf of our clients, the economic merits of allegations of foreclosure and exclusionary conduct, tying and bundling, vertical restraints, collusive behaviour, abuse of collective dominance, and anticompetitive pricing. We provide litigation support and perform damage assessments in the event of IP or trademark infringements, breach of contracts and anticompetitive practices. We assist firms during regulatory reviews and proceedings. We advise companies and their lawyers on how to effectively design contracts by helping them to understand and adapt to competitive pressures, market structure, regulatory obligations and legal constraints.
We also undertake research projects, policy evaluations and regulatory impact assessments for regulatory agencies, trade associations and public institutions on a vast range of issues. In addition, we organise workshops, seminars and training courses for lawyers, executives and members of public institutions who want to improve their knowledge of antitrust and regulatory economics.
