Goals / remit

Goals / remit of the organisation: HCWH Europe is an independent non-profit NGO focusing on the environmental impact of the healthcare sector in Europe.

Our mission is to transform the European healthcare sector so that it is ecologically sustainable and no longer a source of harm to the environment and thus to human health.

HCWH Europe main objectives are:
1) Harness healthcare as a powerful voice for environmental policy. With policy programmes, we seek to influence the EU and UN policy processes to achieve strong Europe-wide environmental frameworks regarding public health and the health sector.
2) Reduce the harmful effects on the environment caused by healthcare (which is a major polluter). Via implementation programmes, we work with European hospitals, NGOs and scientists to change how healthcare does business on a daily basis to reduce the environmental footprint of the sector.
