| Goals / remit of the organisation: |
GVC (Gruppo di Volontariato Civile) is a non governamental organization founded in Bologna in 1971. GVC is currently present in 20 countries with more than 50 projects in development and humanitarian aid.
The statutory mission of GVC is to contribute alleviating hunger in least developed countries fostering sustainable development and participation of direct beneficiaries in the provision of assistance.
In recent years GVC has developed a strong expertise in the provision of emergency Water and Sanitation and Hygiene interventions with a special focus on activities aiming at filling the gap between relief and development
GVC involves local authorities and civil society in beneficiary countries, employs local personnel and uses sustainable technology, following an inter-cultural approach, to create projects targeted to the real needs of local communities and developed with a participatory approach.
