Mitglied im IKW sind Hersteller und Vertreiber von Körperpflegemitteln, Wasch- und Reinigungsmitteln, Pflegemitteln für Endverbraucher. Jeder kennt diese Produkte, kauft und nutzt Sie. Sie sind von großer volkswirtschaftlicher Bedeutung und tragen zu Hygiene, Gesundheit, Wohlbefinden und Werterhaltung bei.
Der IKW hat zurzeit rund 400 Mitglieder. Mehr als 95 % sind kleine und mittelständische Unternehmen. Die Firmen des IKW beschäftigen ca. 42.000 Arbeitnehmer und decken einen Umsatzanteil von über 95 % in Deutschland ab. Erfasst werden hierbei alle Vertriebswege.
Der IKW ist der fachkundige Ansprechpartner für Mitglieder, Regierung, Behörden, Verbraucher, Institutionen und Verbände sowie der Medien.
