Der Österreichische Automobil-, Motorrad- und Touring Club (ÖAMTC) ist mit über 1,8 Millionen Mitgliedern die größte Kraftfahrervereinigung Österreichs. Als Verein organisiert, gehört es zu seinen statutarischen Pflichten, bei der Wahrung der Interessen seiner Mitglieder deren Schutz als Konsumenten besonders zu berücksichtigen. Zu seinem Servicespektrum gehört auch die unentgeltliche Beratung seiner Mitglieder in verbraucherrechtlichen Angelegenheiten. In seiner Eigenschaft als Interessenvertretung mobiler Konsumenten werden seine Experten immer wieder in ministerielle Arbeitsgruppen berufen sowie in Begutachtungs- und Konsultationsverfahren einbezogen. Darüber hinaus ist er Mitglied der Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (F.I.A.), welche die Wahrung der Kraftfahrer- und Verbraucherinteressen auf europäischer bzw. globaler Ebene verfolgt.
