Goals / remit of the organisation: L’USSE est un Groupe d’Intérêt Economique Européen (GIEE), fondé en 1989, représentant des associations de propriétaires forestiers du Sud de l’Europe, 3 portugaises, 7 espagnoles, 2 françaises et une grecque et a des relations très étroites avec des associations de propriétaires forestiers régionales ou nationales dans toute l’Europe. L’USSE représente plus de 10 % de la zone forestière des 27 pays de l’UE, avec une grande diversité de sols et terrains, de structures socioéconomiques et d’organisations forestières. Les membres de l’USSE sont des organisations établies au niveau régional, ayant une forte connaissance du secteur forestier local, des structures du marché, des propriétaires forestiers locaux. Construit sur ce schéma exceptionnel, l’USSE a pour objectif de développer et d’unifier la politique sylvicole dans différentes régions, grâce à une profonde coopération et à la configuration d’un marché forestier transparent et intégré. L’USSE collabore à divers projets de R&D et organise des évènements internationaux.

Activities

Main EU initiatives covered the year before by activities falling under the scope of the Transparency Register:


USSE follows European and EU forestry related policy developments. It takes part at the Advisory Group on Forestry and Cork. It coordinates its activities with other forest organizations.

USSE organizes seminars and prepares reports in order to raise attention to topics it believes are relevant for European Forest Policy. Taking always a perspective form southern countries.

USSE maintains contacts with Commission Services, MEPs and other EU committees. Also with personnel form permanent representation in brussels of different countries and regions. Main objective os this contacts is to share information on the evolution and options for different processes
