Goals / remit

Goals / remit of the organisation: RFSAT is a young university spin-off organization established in the United Kingdom. It concentrates its activities on research and development through national UK in international funded European Framework research, industrial consultancy and deployment of research results in the telecommunications industry. The areas of activities include Digital Signal Processing (DSP), Audio / Video Broadcasting (DAB/DVB), cooperation systems, user interfaces for Virtual & Immersive Reality systems, hybrid indoor (wireless) and outdoor (GNSS with assisted and differential variants) positioning and localization systems, Geographical Information Systems (GIS), networked audiovisual systems and mobile applications and services, recently adding to this eHealth systems and Smart Energy Grid/Metering systems, applications and services. RFSAT has been strongly investing into European Framework 7 (FP7) activities in the thematic areas of Information and Communication Technologies, Environment, Space, Transport, Security and Health. Recently RFSAT has been promoting the use of advanced networked media technologies (NEM) for performing arts and the Theatre through the creation of the Media for Performing Arts department.
