Als umfassender Mobilitätsdienstleister sorgt der ÖBB-Konzern österreichweit für die umweltfreundliche Beförderung von Personen und Gütern. Mit rd. 42.575 MitarbeiterInnen (inkl. Lehrlinge) und Gesamterträgen von rd. 6,2 Mrd. EUR ist der ÖBB-Konzern ein wirtschaftlicher Impulsgeber des Landes. Im Jahr 2011 wurden von den ÖBB 450 Mio. Fahrgäste und 124 Mio. Tonnen Güter transportiert. Strategische Leitgesellschaft des Konzerns ist die ÖBB-Holding AG.
