EDHEC is attached to serving the communities in which it operates – four of its five campuses are in Europe – Lille, Nice, Paris and London, the fifth being in Singapore. The school is thus interested in a wide range of EU affairs, initiatives and policies, especially those touching on higher education, the economy and international business, not only to further its understanding of the European and international business environments but also for opportunities of contributing to social and economic development by offering its expertise to the EU’s governing bodies.
EDHEC currently concentrates its research effort on the following fields: finance (EDHEC-Risk Institute, the school’s largest research centre with over 95 members of 22 nationalities, also produces indices, benchmarks and analyses for the financial industry), accounting, economics, legal performance, family business, new generations and retail management. EDHEC faculty are consulted by EU instances (the Commission, Parliament, Council of Ministers, etc.) – recent topics being inclusive growth in banking, fiscal capacity, indicators for EU governance, labour market reform and intellectual property rights; they participate in EU-related think tanks such as the Centre for European Policy Studies and have been or are involved in research projects funded or soliciting funds from EU sources e.g. in areas such as consumer behaviour and human rights in business education.
