DEKRA is one of the world’s leading expert organisations carrying out testing, inspection and certification. The company currently maintains a presence in 50 countries. More than 35,000 employees are committed to ensuring long-term safety, quality and environmental protection.

The DEKRA Business Units “Automotive”, “Industrial” and “Personnel” provide professional and innovative services in the fields of vehicle inspections, expert appraisals, international claims management, consulting, industrial testing, product testing, certification, environmental protection, qualification, temporary work as well as out- and new placement. In 2014 DEKRA generated sales totalling around 2.5 billion euros.

As a globally operating company, with its comprehensive, independent expertise DEKRA is sought after as a partner by decision-makers, organisations and authorities at international, European, national and regional level. Knowledgeable contributions by our experts, for example in the area of road safety, accompany and support sustainable policy decisions.

The Group Representative Offices in Brussels and Berlin perform a liaison role and ensure that DEKRA is in constant close contact with decision-makers and can offer a contribution as a constructive partner.

    Specific activities covered by the Register

DEKRA is actively following every EU regulatory act related to safety and the environment.

Within the context of the Commission’s Road Safety Policy Orientations 2011-2020, DEKRA follows issues such as the roadworthiness package, the deployment of ITS (such as eCall) or the proposed changes to weights and dimensions of certain vehicles.

DEKRA is also following the product safety and market surveillance legislation (as well as the issues surrounding medical devices and consumer product safety).

Free Trade Agreements (TTIP, CETA), Nuclear safety, health and safety at work, Qualification of professional drivers (Directive 2003/59) are also closely followed by our EU Representation.

- Organisation of several conferences with policy-makers.
- Regular meetings.
- Publication of studies such as the DEKRA Road Safety Report.

On the specific issue of Road Safety, DEKRA is firmly committed to informing road users and preventing accidents. In this context, DEKRA has actively supported the European Road Safety Charter since 2004 as an initial signatory. Moreover, it performs activities such as safety checks for young drivers and the “Red Caps Campaign” for primary school pupils.
