Goals / remit

Goals / remit of the organisation: The Atlantic Treaty Association (ATA) is a non-governmental organization created in 1954, based in Brussels, working to facilitate transatlantic networks and the sharing of knowledge on euroatlantic cooperation and security.
ATA aims are:
a)To conduct research into the various purposes and activities of EU and NATO and their extension to countries of Central Europe and the Former Soviet Union, as well as to pursue a dialogue with those countries bordering the Mediterranean and in the Middle East,
b)To educate and inform the public, and in particular the younger generations, concerning the missions and responsibilities of NATO and the scope for euroatlantic security,
(c) to develop, as determined under this Constitution, cooperation among all its Member, Associate Member, and Observer Member organizations for a better achievement of such purposes.
The ATA represents in Brussels a network of 37 national Associations working in their respective countries to promote knowledge and information about euro-atlantic coooperation and dialogue on security and defense issues. By convening political, diplomatic and military leaders with academics, media representatives and young professionals, the ATA is actively engaged in influencing and informing the public opinion and decisions makers on the future of a euro-atlantic defense, on EU-NATO relations and on the need to support cooperation across Europe and North America in this sector.
Specific programs are in place to engage in a dialogue with Young Political leaders, thorugh the Atlantic Association of YOung Political Leaders, and with the successor generation, via the Youth Atlantic Treaty Association.

The Atlantic Treaty Association participated to several events organized by MP in the Parliament and outside. It also involved sveral MP in its own activities, by granting them visibility and a platform for discussion on issues related with security and defense.
