    Goals / remit

To accompany, to serve and to plead the cause of refugees and migrants, in order to support them towards a fuller and more independent life. Advocating for refugees and migrants, JRS-E
- studies in the field situations and emerging EU and national laws on asylum;
- advocates at relevant stages of the legislative procedures for just asylum policies based on the dignity of the person;
- brings the concerns of JRS workers in developing countries to the attention of the decisions makers in the EU.

In 2013 JRS-E worked on the following EU legislative files and projects/actions:
- Regulation (EU) No 604/2013 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 26 June 2013 establishing the criteria and mechanisms for determining the Member State responsible for examining an application for international protection lodged in one of the Member States by a third-country national or a stateless person
- Directive 2013/32/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council of 26 June 2013 on common procedures for granting and withdrawing international protection
- Directive 2013/33/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council of 26 June 2013 laying down standards for the reception of applicants for international protection
- Regulation (EU) No. 1052/2013 of the European Parliament and the Council of 22 October 2013 establishing the European Border Surveillance System (EUROSUR)
- Regulation (EU) No.2014 of the European Parliament and the Council establishing rules for the surveillance of the external sea borders in the context of operational cooperation coordinated by the European Agency for the Management of Operational Cooperation at the External Borders of the Member States of the European Union
- Guidelines of the Commission on the application of Directive 2003/86/EC of the Council on the right to family reunification, COM(2014) 210 final
- Communication from the Commission to the Council and the European Parliament on EU Return Policy, COM(2014) 199 final
