Der BDF vertritt die Interessen der deutschen Fluggesellschaften gegenüber Wirtschaft und Politik. Die Verbandsmitglieder gehören zu den weltweit sichersten Airlines. Sie befördern jährlich mehr als 120 Millionen Passagiere. Dabei kommen über 750 moderne Flugzeuge zum Einsatz. Die Unternehmen erwirtschaften jährlich einen Umsatz von rund 27 Milliarden Euro. In Summe beschäftigen die BDF-Fluggesellschaften 120.000 Mitarbeiter.
