10,6 Mio Euro im Gas-Bereich aus dem European Energy Programme for Recovery (EEPR), etwa 480.000 Euro Mittel aus der EU-Forschungsförderung als Mitglied von Forschungskonsortien. Im Gasbereich förderte die EU zur Sicherung der Versorgung (SoS) den Bau von reverse flow-Anlagen, Interkonnektoren,Pipelines und Speichern, Empfänger waren Net4Gas s.r.o. und RWE Gas Storage s.r.o. in Tschechien. Im Forschungsbereich erhielt RWE 2011 EU-Fördergelder im Rahmen der Programme CESAR (CO2-Abscheidung 13.735 Euro), RECOMBIO (Mitverbrennung von Biomasse, 215.000 Euro), MacPlus (Effizienzverbesserung Kohle-Kraftwerke 14.000 Euro), Green Emotion (E-Mobilität, 177.947 Euro) und EU-DEEP (Verbesserung von Verteilungsnetzwerken, 59.100 Euro).
