We employ more than 60,000 people worldwide and operate 50 cigarette factories in 41 countries. Our calculation of the estimated costs directly related to representing interests to EU institutions in 2012 is different to the one made for 2011 as it is based on Edition No 3 of the Transparency Register Guidelines, dated 4 October 2012. In accordance with point A(3)(5) of these Guidelines, the membership fees to registered trade or professional associations and think tanks have not been included in the total. On the contrary, on the basis of Art. 2(5)(3) of the Commission's Communication on the Transparency Directive, fees to Brussels-based consultants for lobbying services are included in the total.
