Aufgabe des Vereins ist die Förderung aller Maßnahmen, die der Erzeugung, dem Vertrieb und der Verwendung von Tiefkühlkost dienen. Er hat zur Erreichung dieses Zweckes die Interessen der Tiefkühlwirtschaft bei Behörden, Wirtschaftsverbänden und sonstigen Stellen zu vertreten, den Austausch wissenschaftlicher, technischer und rechtlicher Erfahrungen in der Tiefkühlwirtschaft zu pflegen und die wissenschaftliche Forschung zu fördern. Der Verein wird hierbei mit Einrichtungen gleicher Zielsetzung im In- und Ausland zusammenarbeiten.
