Oberstes Ziel des GVA ist der Erhalt des freien Kfz-Teile- und Servicemarkts als Reparaturalternative für den Verbraucher sowie die Wahrung der Chancengleichheit gegenüber der Automobilindustrie im Ersatzteile-Handel. Der Zugang zu diesen Märkten muss für alle Marktteilnehmer möglich sein, damit der Verbraucher die Wahlfreiheit hat, in welcher Werkstatt er sein Fahrzeug warten und reparieren lassen will.
Zentrale Aufgabe des Gesamtverband Autoteile-Handel e.V. ist es, die gemeinsamen Interessen des freien Kfz-Teilehandels in der Bundesrepublik zu schützen und zu fördern sowie die berufsständischen Belange der Branche gegenüber Behörden und Parlamenten sowie gegenüber anderen Branchen und deren Verbänden zu vertreten.
