Other contact information: The institut für finanzdienstleistungen (iff) is an independent, internationally-oriented non-profit organisation providing research and advice in the field of sustainable financial services. The institute creates electronic data-processing programmes for providers of financial advice to consumers. It issues publications, assists with training and develops models for socially responsible loans, investments, payment methods and insurance. iff is financed exclusively through current projects and does not receive any public subsidy. It is a medium-sized enterprise, whose employees are drawn primarily from academic circles, the majority of whom have studied, lecture or practice law.

iff has conducted several studies for the European Commission over the past 20 years. The main focus of the iff is legal, social and economic questions in relation to retail financial services. iff was recently contracted for DG Internal Market’s study on "study on the impact of Directive 2007/64/EC on payment services in the internal market and on the application of Regulation (EC) No 924/2009 on cross-border payments in the Community" 2012, "study on interest rate restrictions" 2010, "Study on the costs and benefits of the EU policy options for mortgage credit" 2009 and “Equity Release Schemes in the EU” published in March 2009 which contained a legal and economic analysis of the situation for these types of financial services including an assessment of the potential barriers and consumer vulnerabilities in these markets.

Other relevant research studies iff has undertaken for the European Parliament and the European Commission include "impact assessment of the different measures within the Capital Requirements Directive IV" 2012, "training courses in Consumer Financial Advice (ConFinAd)" 2012-2014, "the calculation of the APRC" 1998, a comprehensive review of legislation and practices concerning "over-indebtedness" 2003.
