Goals / remit

Goals / remit of the organisation: The Fundación Ciudad de la Energía (CIUDEN) is a R&D&I organisation established by the Spanish Government in 2006 in Ponferrada (Northwestern Spain) with the objective of strengthening economic and social development in the region of El Bierzo and hence in Spain by means of activities related to energy and environment.

CIUDEN´s Clean Coal Technologies Programme main goal is the development of efficient, cost effective and reliable Capture, Transport & Storage technologies (CCS) feasible to reach the industrial scale. This objective is to be reached through the design, construction and operation of various semi-industrial CCS testing facilities. The facilities, open for international cooperation and research, comprise unique worldwide equipment such as 30MWth Oxy-CFB boiler. More info at www.ciuden.es
