Goals / remit
| Goals / remit of the organisation: |
Unesda's primary role is to support the increased acceptance, growth and development of non-alcoholic beverages.
UNESDA was founded in 1958. The creation of the European Economic Community, and its plans to harmonise the laws affecting non-alcoholic beverages, led to the need for a special body to provide technical expertise on such legislation. The members of UNESDA are the national non-alcoholic beverages associations of the European Union and company members who conduct business in at least five EU Member States.
When required, UNESDA offers European authorities, institutions and stakeholders convenient and rapid access to a vast pool of expert industry knowledge to assist them in creating policies that are fair, forward-looking and positive - both for the future development of the industry and for the consumer.
UNESDA offers similar expertise to international organisations, such as the World Trade Organisation (WTO) and the Codex Alimentarius of the World Health Organisation, and thus encourages dialogue on a global basis.
