Un mouvement international :
Défense des Enfants International (DEI) est une organisation non gouvernementale indépendante créée en 1979 qui vise à assurer une action internationale continue, systématique et concertée visant à faire connaître et à protéger les droits de l'enfant. DEI compte des membres dans plus de 60 pays et des sections nationales dans 36 pays.
DEI Belgique, la section belge veille à ce que la Belgique respecte les engagements qui découlent de l'adoption de la Convention internationale des droits de l'enfant en faisant de la sensibilisation, de l'éducation aux droits de l'enfant, des dossiers pédagogiques, organisant des conférences, vérifiant que les lois soient conformes à la Convention des droits de l'enfant, interpellant les pouvoirs publics, ...

Nous intervenons principalement dans le domaine de la justice des mineurs, les enfants migrants, l'accès à la justice, la justice sociale, la violence (notamment institutionnelle) contre les enfants,...
Nous sommes notamment parvenus à faire en sorte que la Belgique ne détienne plus les enfants migrants dans le cadre de leur séjour en Belgique.
Au niveau international, nous avons été chargés par le Comité des droits de l'enfant de développer le suivi de l'observation générale n° 10 du Comité des droits de l'enfant sur la justice des mineurs.
