Aux termes de la loi du 10 août 1991 sur la profession d'avocat et de la loi du 18 août 1995 sur l'assistance judiciaire, l'Ordre a pour mission de veiller à la sauvegarde de l'honneur de l'Ordre, de maintenir les principes de dignité et de probité qui forment la base de la profession d'avocat, d'arrêter les règlements d'ordre intérieur déterminant les règles professionnelles en matière notamment de déontologie entre avocats et à l'égard des clients et des tiers, en matière de secret professionnel, d'honoraires et frais, d'information du public concernant les avocats et leurs activités professionnelles, de protection des intérêts des clients et des tiers, de veiller à l'observation de ces règlements, de veiller aux obligations professionnelles en matière de lutte contre le blanchiment d'argent, d'assurer l'assistance judiciaire des personnes aux ressources insuffisantes pour assurer la défense de leurs intérêts.
