Astres Foundation (Catalan: Fundació Astres) is a non-profit organisation founded in January 2001, registered in the Foundations Register of the Generalitat (Government) of Catalonia, number 1648. Astres’ goal is to improve the quality of life of persons with intellectual and/or mental health disabilities in the province of Girona, facilitating their inclusion in society and their self-empowerment and autonomy through a integrative, comprehensive, and individualised work methodology.
Astres is a member organisation of Educational Platform Group (www.plataformaeducativa.org), which comprises ten private non-profit foundations/associations devoted to improving the lives of persons in situations or at risk of social inclusion, primarily through in/non-formal educational methodologies.
Mission: Ensure a decent future and good quality of life for people with intellectual and/or mental health disabilities in the province of Girona through a integrative, comprehensive, and individualised work methodology.
Programmes:
Support to Autonomy - Career guidance and job placement - In/Non-formal education for disabled adults - Psychological attention Leisure - In/Non-formal learning through theatre, the arts and crafts, sports, cooking, etc.
Occupational Centre in Girona and Santa Coloma de Farners - Personal and social adult learning - Vocational training (veg gardening, manufacturing, crafts, etc.)
