En dehors de la défense des intérêts des entreprises en tant qu’employeurs, les activités de l’UEL s’étendent sur tous les domaines où les entreprises relevant des différents secteurs de l’économie nationale présentent des intérêts convergents.
Ainsi des groupes de travail composés par des représentants des différents secteurs de l’économie nationale étudient d’une façon permanente toutes les questions tenant à des thèmes aussi variés que la législation sociale, la fiscalité, les études économiques, l’éducation et la formation professionnelle continue, l’entrepreneuriat, l’environnement et l’aménagement du territoire.
A côté de ces comités permanents des groupes ad hoc traitent de sujets ponctuels à intérêt interprofessionnel.
