ISES statutory aims are the promotion of Europe in Italy and the support to public bodies, business and third sectors to access EU funding by means of a continuous side by side work throughout the bureaucratic, administrative and management path respecting the rules set by the European Commission.
The activity of ISES represents the opportunity to develop a functional community culture to an integrated and participatory management of processes of change, which stimulates, in the actors involved, a significant willingness to invest in the projects planning.
The European projects design is in fact an area separate from the general projects design, and finds its basis in the progressive emergence of the “participatory planning”, a planning process that includes the activation of mixed partnerships as a pre-condition to produce a significant impact on reality.

Nevertheless, the levels of protection among EU Member States vary as well as the procedures followed in order to protect EU funding being implemented in national cross-border or transnational European projects.
OPERATION HIPPOCRATES aims to develop and strengthen expertise in tackling the trade of fake medicine through internet and to exchange best practices and to develop common trainings for financial investigators and financial criminal analysts notably based on the "train-trainer" principle to the improvement of the prevention and fight against the trade of fake medicine through the internet.
MERCURIO Project: A European analysis of the Road Injuries Management System with regard to the social and economic impact of emergency and post-injuries services on national finances and households
In the last years, more than 35.000 people died on the roads of the European Union and no fewer than 1.500.000 persons were injured. Accidents remain the most important category of external costs of transport in Europe: 2.5–3.0% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in 17 Member States. Their financial strain on affected families is also significant. The need of data in this field is urgent to advocate and motivate policy-makers to action. MERCURIO project aims at performing an accurate and scientifically based analysis of the social and economic impact of road injuries in the immediate and long-term, assessing, through focused research activities, the related costs they place on public finances and households. MERCURIO will contribute to the definition of evidence-based and cost-efficient measures to improve emergency and post-injuries services. Research findings will be published and disseminated to involved stakeholders at national and European level.
The Institute's activities consist mainly in the promotion, design and implementation of studies and researches in social and economic areas. Deeply inspired by spirit and interdisciplinary approach, the economic and sociological analysis wants to intersect with the legal one and the industrial relations, with a constant attention to the comparative profiles and to the increasingly critical international and European dimension of globalization processes.
